Ok. I have a CB in my truck right now with a magnetic antenna that I hate that goes on my roof. I like the look of the two antennas right behind the cab, connected to the box. I dont think I can do it this way though because of my tonneau cover. Ive also seen the antennas where you can but on your hood but I hat how that looks. Does anyone have any other ideas of where I can put them? Is it possible to put them behind the cab with my tonneau there??

You can take an L shaped bracket and mount it to the bed. In order to complete this you would have to loosen the bed and slide it forward.

Wherever you decide to mount it, make sure its grounded good or it won't talk worth a damn. I've always mounted mine on my toolboxes, but on the bed rail will also work. Anywhere there is good metal.

ok thanks. Is there a better place than radio shack to get the antennas or what? Thats where I got my magnetic one.

You can use a bracket like that on the outside of the bed so it won't interfere with your tonneau.

AirJam has a good setup...
I have the camper mirrors on my truck. I have 2 9foot whips on mine that are tilted just a bit forward so when on the highway they are at a 90 degree to the road.
You want the antenna at the middle of your car/truck to get the best front/back signal and you want to place them as far apart as possible.
I have a cobra that has been clipped and then I put a kicker box 250 watts. I get out a good 20 miles +/- on the east coast then I get out 30 to 40 miles on the west. depending on what channel I am on.
When in the city I pick up everything and have to turn the kicker box off... I screw up TV's :)

I agree, stop at the truck stops... they have the quality equipment. RS sucks $$$/Quality for CB
look in your local phonebook for CB shops... they will clip your radio for you

I have a Uniden Grant XL that is tuned up to 3 watts dead key, 35 watts full modulation, also had 400 channels Its bad ass, I also have a SIlver Eagle 350 in my room...all just sitting there beside my base station.

Definitely get yours peaked and tuned....my last Cobra was tuned to 40 watts and boy did it get out there....you can also run a pretty good linear and you should have no problem reaching out real far.......but without a doubt the most important thing is your antenna setup....don't skimp on antennas or even coax....and make sure you have a real good ground plane...it makes all the difference in the world

how much would you say it all costs in the end?? a 2 antenna setup. And are there connectors that bring both signals from the antennas to one cable to go into the CB??

the coax for dual antennas are two wires which become one.....they are already spliced together
