Alright I just came into owership of a 1992 Laser AWD Turbo 5-speed. The local used car dealer took it on trade then after a couple weeks and a lot of messing around i bought the car for 200 bucks. Ok here comes the bad news the tranny slips out of 1st gear if your just idleing around but if ur accelerating or decellerating is usually stays in gear. The clutch is completely gone but before the previous owner traded it in he went on ebay and bought a XTD Stage 3 clutch kit  . While I was dealing with the dealer the ignition key was locked up the key wouldn't turn to at all (the main reason i got the car so cheap) i contacted the local dodge dealer and was told that a new lock complete lock assembly would run about 300 cuz the previous owner must have taken it apart and it is all smashed up he had to have taken the actual switch out of the back of it and been starting it with a screwdriver :headshake .
I have never heard of XTD clutchs before it seems to be ok, i suppose. It's a 6 puck copper/ceramic friction material and it comes with the throught bearing alinment tool and pressure plate. Anyone have any experiance with this company cuz I don't know if i should use it or buy and oem clutch kit. i Have searched over the net and couldn't really come up with and info for this clutch company.
I also don't know if i should buy a new flywheel or if i should have some one turn it down when we put a new clutch in my dad's pichup we were told if we turned the flywheel that we had to shim it back out or the clutch wouldn't last. The chiltons manual i have for the car say it can be turned but doesn't saw anything about shimming it back out.
I just finished building a non turbo front wheel drive eclipse so i do know my way around these cars but on the turbo front i am kinda new.
I want to give the car a little bit more power but i'm on a very tight budget since winter is coming and i got my hours at work cut. :crying:

I don't see a manual boost controller and boost gauge on your list. None of that stuff in your poll will give you more power, and the 1g BOV is good enough anyway so I wouldn't get an aftermarket.

True a 1g bov may be fine but an aftermaket one sounds soo much better and what is the point of a boost gauge when there is one right in the gauge cluster but a boost controller i never really thought about.
Yes i know none of the mods in my poll would give it more power but in order to make more power i would prolly start with a wideband 02 sensor and gauge then a fuel rail with pressure regulator bigger injectors and maybe a fuel pump for the fuel side. As for the air side the boost controller like was stated before would be a good start then an aftermaket wastegate and a frount mount intercooler wich would give me alot more power but the name of the poll is cheap mods if money was no object yea i've already stated the way i would go.

The 1g BOV has been proven to hold 20+ psi of boost on a regular basis. And it's cheaper than a nice aftermarket. You can pick one up on ebay for around $75.
The stock boost guage is a POS. Aftermarket boost gauge is gonna be a necessity if you plan on modding for performance.

Well the most "bang for the buck" is the boost controller then. You will get more power and it will not cost more than the other things on your poll. You could even make your own if you wanted ; )

i have heard of building you own boost contoller and i know what i need and what i need to end with but the inbetween area's are a bit gray any one that might be able to give me a shove in the right direction would be great

Click here for homemade MBC (http://www.darklightning.com/gi/mbc.htm)
There is the info, but there are some really cheap ones you can just buy and I don't know if I would go to the trouble of building one. Unless you just wanted to say you did it. Pay attention to the part where it says, "This is the sort of mod that can destroy a turbocharged engine in less than a heartbeat. If you do not fully understand any aspect of this system, DO NOT install it on your vehicle or anyone else's vehicle."
I started with a cheap ass e-bay type MBC, and it worked just fine. Get a boost gauge first, they are not that expensive either.

Boost gauge + Boost controller = around 70-100 bucks total... for around 10-20 hp (t25) and depending on what turbo you use and how many psi you are running.

that mod list isn't the greatest list i've seen, actually it's pretty poor. you wouldn't need a new fuel rail on the t25, nor would you need a different intercooler or an aftermarket wastegate. there are a ton of things in between that you'll need. for a good upgrading list, see: http://dsmtuners.com/tech.php

Your list should be
1) Boost controller + boost gauge
2) 16g turbo (bolt on for 1gens)
3) hacked 2nd gen intake
4) or aftermarket intake

Why in the fuck would i go spend my money on a different turbo when i can have the exhaust houseing bored out and have a turbo that will push over 500 horse at like 30psi

you guys say the first thing should be boost controller?? You know that would require tuning above stock boost right?

Alright number one if you want anywhere above the factory 210 hrpswr you NEED a boost gauge. The one in the cluster isnt' accurate worth a crap. Also, I don't know what turbo you are talking about having but if it's your factory 14b it's not good for 500 hrspwr/30psi. My EvoIII is only good for about 395...You would have to have a 20g or something humungous like that. And porting that manifold won't be that significant either. I did mine and was dissappointed :uhoh:. And also a front mount will make it slower until you put in a larger turbo;)

Gosh calm down... just trying to help someone. So a white face gauge is a better upgrade than a 16g turbo.. ok.

[QUOTE=loeman]What does that mean? :eek7:
the car from the factory is only tuned at stock boost, if you get a boost controller and boost it higher than stock, it will be dangerous, because your car isnt tuned for higher than stock boost levels, and your a/f ratio
will be everywhere!

I knew what it meant (that was sarcasm). I wonder WHY you would say it. I would think his intentions ARE to tune the car to make more power. Why else would he post the poll and ask how to get more power, so the logical first step (since he has exhaust and many "free" mods done already, and if not upgrading the turbo) is a manual boost controller. 16 psi would be a relatively safe number, not the 30 psi that he mentioned. Since the a/f ratio is controlled by the ECU and not the MBC, it will remain the same as it was before as dictated by how much air passes through the air metering system (MAP, MAS,... etc).

lol i love seeing guys new to turbos who think they know exactly what they need and talk about how they're gonna run 30 psi on a stock turbo and get 500hp, reminds me of when i first got my car lol. buy a boost gauge and manual boost controller, 130 shipped from www.boostcontroller.com and turn it up to 16psi then dont even touch anything under your hood until youve read everything you can find about trubo dsm's or you will regret it very quickly.

you know whats even funnier is when i hear of piss ant's like you who have a bigger turbo and a fucking boost controller o and i can't froget the cat back wow u are the fastest thing on the block. and for a FYI thing i am a heavy truck mechanic i have been working with large Cat Detroit Cummins Navistar Volvo names and guess what every single large mass produced engine has on it > A TURBO and some of the old 8v92tt detroits were supercharged twin turbo v-8 engines that if u wanted to you could bolt the blocks together front to back and have a 16 cyclinder engine with count them 2 superchargers and 4 turbo so what it the moral of this story don't judge a book by the cover i do know what i am talking about with turbo's i am just to suited to small 4 cyclinder turbo motors and i have met people and seen dyno runs from ppl with first gen eclipse talons and lasers running 500 horses to the wheels with the stock turbo but different wheels and bored out houseing's
so i love seeing guys like you eat there own shit

LMFAO
PLEASE show proof of a 1g with 500 hp to the wheels on the 14b. This is about the fastest way to get your ass flamed on this forum, because you obviously don't know shit. You better hope Josh closes this pretty quick. If you are going to make claims like that, you better have something to back them with. Insulting everyone on this forum will get you nowhere.

hahaha, wow, yea 500 hp on a 14b, nice. and trust me, no you dont know anyhitng about these cars, i still dont know a quarter of what there is to know and ive been with mine for about a year, but i can relate to where your coming from, i remember my first couple of posts on here asking stupid shit like you were asking and getting yelled/laughed at but, dont forget were just here to help and show you some new shit out. take all that supposed knowledge you have about being a heavy trcuk mechanic and throw it in the trash for this car, not even close to being the same thing, turbo diesels are totally different. so first off, id take l eclipse l's advice and 1) shut the fuck up and 2) take the time to go to vfaq and do some research, check out dsmtuner.com and read old threads on here, then you can put some big boy pants on and post something with inteligence.

We were all n00bs at one point, but NEVER have I seen someone this stupid. Go back to your 16cylinder dual supercharger dual turbo 80billion horsepower trucks, cause you don't belong in the DSM world.
500hp on the 14b....bwwahaha I'm actually laughing.
Thanks for the laugh, this O.Chem was making me feel depressed.
Wait one more time, 30psi 500hp on a 14b by porting it.....bwwahahahaha
