throwing up 2 lose weight?

it cant be THAT bad..ive had a few friends do this just to lose 10-15 pounds...and theyre fine..i just want to get down a little...and when i get there ill have confidence and then start to eat right to maintain it. please dont flame..:-/

But just, no. Cutting calories would help, even restricting what you eat to very little, but throwing up, thats so junior high cheerleader don't you think?

No, it can't be that bad, it just causes tooth decay, swelling of the saliva glands, ulcers, stomach ruptures, dehydration, and the abnormal buildup of fluids in the intestines, just to name a few of the risks.

Seriously, if you're considering this as an option, please talk to someone and get some help.

Yeah.. throwing up is not the way to go. Just get some self control and dont eat as much, and if you dont have any self control then get a stomache staple if you need it.

cut the fast food, soft drinks, drinks lots of water, and i garentee that that will cut at least 10 lbs by itself.. unless your are skinney and you are trying to look like you have an eating disorder.. and i guess if you wanted to look that way, then it would make sense to have an eating dissorder...

by the way, if you do that your body will think you are starving yourself and when you start eating normally again youll get fatter than you were previously... so, i definately recamend doing it (sarcasm for those mentally challenged) :disappoin

WTF!!! Throwing up to lose weight huh???? Thats kinda stupid for a guy to do. By the time you know it....who'll be like 110lbs still thinking ur fat. Anorexia!!! (i think i spelled that word right)

It simply makes no sense, there is no logic in throwing up to lose weight. It causes your body to cannibalize its own tissues (INCLUDING MUSCLE) just so that you can look a little better, not to mention the other problems already stated. Trade in the potato chips for some jogging shorts, hit the weights a little bit, don't binge eat, and you're there. You don't even need to exercise a lot, just get 30 mins 4-5 times a week and you're on your way, it's not THAT hard.

Seriously -- just make some sacrifices. You don't have to resort to harmful practices to lose weight. The first thing you can do is cut out as many carbs as you can. The Atkins diet is a sorry plan for long-term application, but to lose weight quickly, you can't beat carb-cutting. You don't want to really reduce your caloric intake, just make sure they're healthier calories (and watch the Fat Calories and Saturated Fats.) Once you're down to your target weight (and make sure it's reasonable) then slowly start working carbs back into your diet, but be sure to get at least a couple hours of exercise per week. Extended low carb diets are just for people too lazy to get some damn exercise.

Some tips:
1. Wherever possible, switch to whole grains. Make sure it actually says "whole wheat." The good thing about this, is that the carb/starch amount is considerably lower, and you may find that you actually start to PREFER whole wheat over white, as it just has more taste (I even buy the whole wheat pasta now.)

2. Exercise regularly. Keep this simple idea in mind: You want to eat more starches and carbs and sugars? Fine, just exercise more to compensate.

3. Drink a lot of water -- you'll feel less hungry. Bring a water bottle to class with you, so you can drink water throughout the day (if your teachers/principal tries to give you crap, give it right back to them and tell them WHY you want to bring water to class -- when I was in High School I was always super pissed that they tried to make kids throw out their water before going to class, like the friggin' world was going to come to an end if students were allowed to bring water bottles with them and drink in the classroom.)

4. Eat a big breakfast, then smaller meals a few times throughout the day. So much of the American day is focused around rushing out in the morning with little time to eat anything healthy (if anything at all -- and NO, coffee isn't a good breakfast) hitting a fast-food joint in the afternoon for lunch, then coming home at night and eating this huge meal a few hours before bed. It's not too hard to reason that the last part of the day you want your body to be working on digesting food (especially if you're trying to lose weight) is at night while you're sitting on the couch, or sleeping in bed. Besides often leading to an unhealthy sleep, you just don't want your least active time of day to be when you're got the most food in your stomach.

5. While it's always good to supplement your diet with a daily multivitamin, if you do decide to go with more of a bland/light diet, be DAMN sure you take a vitamin every day, as it will help make up a little for any deficiencies.

6. And lastly, did I say exercise already? Nothing burns fat better than muscle -- the more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn. Just make sure your diet keeps up with it if you pursue strength intensive pursuits like weights or whatnot, as the more muscle you have, the more energy producing foods you will require.

i just wanted opinions. thank you guys for input. i have never done it....i just was wondering facts and stuff about it..i mean you hear about kids doing it all the time..but yeah thanks again....i will do this the right way, and not the unhealthy way.

i know that the throwin' up crap isn't god for you, though i've never tried.

i can't force myself to be sick, i mean i tried the "stick fingers down throat" thing, to look ill an get outa lessons/class when.....well when i didn't want to go, it never worked.

Coming from a teenage girl with tons of pressures to look great, it's really not worth it. It is extremely bad for you, and it can lead to millions of health problems. Did you skip health class or something? I don't know how many movies I've seen on Bulimia.

As others have already stated, it is a terrible way to loose weight. Many individuals who started using this technique have developed severe eating disorders (including anorexia nervosa and boulimia) as a result. It is not worth the risk.

The point we are all trying to say is that its bad. i have also seen numerouse movies in health class about this and it does lead to more problems than it solves.

Dont mean to boost the thread, but unless you hav swallow'd a fist full of Rock, or on the verge of alcohol poisoning, puking to loose weight is weak , get off ur ass and do something. You in wrestling? Cut those damn carbs and drink more, of anything(preferablly caffinated) and u'll drop a few lbs. in no time.
