its a 98 GS auto. the SRS light came on the dash for no freaking reason. The car has not been in any accidents and the bags have never deployed. I dont have the manual, I cant find the fuse for it, I dont understand what would cause the light to come on!
second: the transmission is acting up. it shifts all four gears but its reving way too high. I'm doing 3000rpms at 60 mph. the revs just stay there and wont go down. it shifts 1-2-3 and 3 and 4 shift almost simultaneously. the needle drops from 2nd to 3rad and instantly drops again about 200-300 revs to forth. example. 1st gear all the way to 2800rpms and the needle drops to 2000rpms (2nd gear), then all the way up to 3000rpms and shifts to 3rd, needle drops to 2500rpms then right away drops again to 2200rpms (4th gear).
the car only has 50K miles and all the tune ups are up to date.
Anyone got anyideas what it could be?

is the O/D off?
As for the SRS light, try disconnecting the batter for 5 mins. That should clear the codes out.

I dont know if it has OD or not (overdrive). the fool that owned it before us changed the stock gear selector for one of those gay circuit city ones with the fake carbonfiber sticker.
I figure if the OD was off a light would come on the dash right?
my 93 use to have a little light come on whenever I'd depress the button.
I disconected the battery for a few seconds but not for five minutes. I'll try it. thanks.

It should have O/D. Yeah there is a light on the dash, it's an orange one right inbetween the tach and the speedometer. Maybe the light is burned out? Not sure exactly, and it dosn't help that the retard that had the car before changed the shift knob. Stupid ricers....
It might take more than a few seconds for the ecu to reset. If the SRS light comes back, try disconnecting it for a few minutes.
