blower m otor

I have searched the forum and received some help, and now I am needing more. I have a '92 Blazer with unknown history. I have recently replaced the blower motor and only have 1 speed. I have found in the past that the A/C is part of the defrost system with this vehicle. However I can not find that thread now to help me understand this problem. Can someone tell me if the speed of the blower and A/C is connected, also I had read about jumpering a switch on the A/C to check it but don't know where this is. This is a 4.3 with power everything, so any and all help is appreciated.

No it seems to be low speed. I have read that the A/C is part of the defrost system,I can hear the compressor trying to kick on when in defrost position. I appreciate any pf your help.

ok, this has nothing to do with defrost of the AC.

What you might need to do is test the fan switch in the dash.

I seem to remember on my '89 that there was an in-line fuse to the blower motor that ran along the firewall near the top by the wiper motor etc. It was a big rubber looking bulb that pulled apart that obviously had a wire sticking out of each end. I sold my 89 so I can't go and look for you. If you have one of these, pull it apart and see if the fuse inside is blown. I can't remeber if when my fuse was blown whether I only got low speed or if I got all but the high speed. Check for the blown fuse anyway.

Also, when you have the switch inside the cab set to "Defrost" the Air Conditioning Compressor will cycle on and off. This is GM's way of keeping the oil in the compressor circulated through the system in the winter time to keep your o-rings and seals lubricated, otherwise they'd dry out and all the freon would leak out.
