I was wondering if you guys could help me out i have a 2004 silverado with a 5.3 and i had a flowmaster 40 series and it wasnt loud enough so i had the muffler taken off and i have just the pipes running out the back and the truck still isnt loud what can i do to make it louder

good question, i was thinking of taking the cats off until i had to have it go back through emissions, which isnt until another two years AND my dads friend who runs a custom truck and rod shop is gonna make me a custom dual exhaust with those summit chambered long tube mufflers, hopefully he can do some kind of crossover pipe too. So without cats i imagine shes gonna be pretty beastly sounding, but what do i do with the o2 sensors?

You can get o2 simulators off of ebay or get the rear sensors turned off in a custom tune or something similar. The eaiest way is to get the simulators

My 90 Suburban has had a Gibson straight through muffler and single 3" tailpipe for many years. I recently added Edelbrock headers, which gave it a little more sonic presence.

What REALLY made a difference was opening up the last couple of feet of the exhaust! My tailpipe exits behind the left rear tire. I went to Burns Stainless in Newport Beach CA (Formula 1 and NASCAR exhaust builder) and got a couple of feet of 4" 304 stainless bent to 90 degrees plus a 3" to 4" stainless adapter cone. I had a local muffler man cut the original pipe and weld these pieces on from just behind the last hanger from the frame. Then I had him weld on a FIVE INCH polished stainless diesel tip (only weld on the leading edge, or heat discoloration will show to the rear).

Then I spent 40 minutes on my back with Mother's polish and #0000 steel wool getting the pipe to shine like the tip, finishing the installation with Liquid Glass protection.

For about $200 total, it F'in' ROARS! I can only imagine what duals would be like!

I there any catalog that would sell the o2 sensors or a website? Im just wondering because it would be so much easier since i could find it quicker for my specific application.

So let me make sure Im following you correctly... You just put some bigger pipes from the muffler back? Im just curious because my Gibson muffler sounds great but i was wanting a little more sound from it, I was just thinking taking off the rear pipes and putting some dumps on it out of the muffler cauz im poor...Just wondering if this would do the trick?
