My 2002 Yukon has been in the shop 3 times. It's been a year since the last fuel pump. Oringal issue would not start when fuel low and would actually stop running on the road. Pull over, wait 30 seconds and start right up. It starting again and my plan now is to keep it over 1/2 tank. They keep replacing fuel pump. I just can't believe these pumps aren't lasting more than a year. It's intermittent and they say they can't fix something they can't see. Anyone know of a service bulliten or known fix on this one. I'm taking it back to the shop again and hoping to steer them towards a somewhat known issue...

You can search for the general condition on Alldata.com, are you having this done a GM dealer?

My 2003 did the same thing at 30,000 miles. It wouldnt run if it got below a quarter tank. They replaced it under warranty. It did it once again recently but then stopped. very strange because the pickup is in the bottom of the pump so I cant figure why it would do this, its like the pump isnt turning on once it gets so low.

I have an '02 Yukon SLE, and I'm on my 3rd fuel pump & pick-up assembly. First one died at 12K miles, the second one bit the dust @ about 72K. I'm now at 92K, and just the other week, the needle went from full to empty (w/ Low Fuel Msg). After 5 seconds, it went back to full automatically.
My father has an '01 Yukon XL SLE, and he's not had any problems. Just last week, his FP is started whining at idle. He said he received a recall notice about his Yukon's FP. I'll ask what year models qualify.
