drum to disc brakes

Well, this probably isn't the best question to ask here since most of the celica owners here don't have a live axle. But maybe 91 ST knows =P How hard is it to swap out drum brakes on a live axle and fit on disc brakes? Would I have to look around for complete assmebly from another live axle? Or could I grab the entire brakes off of the celica supras of that year, but had an IRS?

Not sure, I know there is a page on how to do the conversion on the FWD models at Toyota Celica Online but not sure about yours though. It should be possible to use an old C\S set but u might have to change alot of stuff. Good luck though.

youve got a 3rd gen right, im pretty sure the mk3 supra disks wouldnt be that hard to put on, and considering they use a live axel it shouldnt be that hard to do, the bolt pattern from the axels to the strut sould be the same if not similar

its not real hard to fabricate brakes from another car, the hardest part is just getting the axle to match up to disk or drum

i didn't know the MK3 supras had live axles. Yea I was wondering about connecting the new discs to the axles.

im pretty sure they do, i dont remember exactly what one went to independant, but im prety sure the mk3 had a straight (live) axel, if not im sure the celica supra one would work, mabe a little modification would be needed, but not much (mabe even no welding)

Mk1's had an IRS even 4th gen Celica GTS's had an IRS, a crappy one, but still an IRS. I hope they're not too difficult, I'll eventually get down to the junk yard to take a look at the supras. There are quite a few surprisingly.
