I have question.
Theirs 240SX for sale and i was wondering whats the deal here.
Its a 1989 240SX with 5 spd manuel. Its got only 98K. Its a fastback and graphite gray or whatever they call em. Good tires and clutch works fine, no problems with it. Everythings in working condition and its good condition. Minor scratch on front left side of bumper tahts like 4 inches ...
He wants 2900 for it. What do you think? Worth it or not. This would be my first 240 but i dunno who reliable a 16 year old car would be.

id say thats a fair deal for only 98K, where are you located i might just buy it. Even though its a SOHC it would still make a fine car to have.

Guess I don't know my stuff, I thought it wasn't a great deal at all. 98k is a plus, but its 16-years old. It was made when you were, lmao. Older then I am by a year or two.

well i guess it must have to do with the area you are in. Here, 240sx's with a DOHC and 130k miles, 5sp, are selling for around 4-5 grand. 2900 could be talked down i bet to 2500$ which could be a steal for that. I would just get rid of the SOHC, and swap in a DOHC KA. If the availability and pricing of 240's is better in your area than this, it might be different.

Theres very few 240s here, but maybe thats the reason. People arn't interested in them too much, more domestic I bet. There cheaper here, almost certain.
Kinda like this. http://used-cars.autos.yahoo.com/usedcars/detail/index.html?cid=automobiles-188306355&dst=258.34&rsr=bWFrZT1OSVNTQU4mbW9kZWw9MjQwU1gmY2xfeT0mY2hfeT 0mY2xfcHJpY2U9JmNoX3ByaWNlPSZjbF9taT0mY2hfbWk9JmNr PSZndXI9MzAwJmNzej0wMzkwMSZ2dHlwZT1hdXRvcyZtaz1OaX NzYW4mbW89MjQwU1g-
Yeah it has 140k and a auto, but only 1300.

theres quite a bit of configuration u would have to do swapping in a DOHC, i would just save up more money and do a diff motor, and beat the SOHC to crap.

Personally I think its too high, i got my 93 with 120,000 miles on it for 2,250. I guess it just depends on where you are tho. That and even since i bought mine prices have sky rocketed.

But this is a 5speed so +1000$ and has under 100k so +1000$ and I'm sure it no rust since with that mileage, maybe it was a summer car. so +100000000000000000000000$. I think it's a decent deal if the car is in really good shape, if you can talk down to 2500 then I say go for it. Oh and the modifications to fit the KADE are same or less then to fit an SR into a 89-90.

i got my coupe for 1500, it was 2500. But mine had 160,000 + lol. Interior is very damn good, but i took it all out. Thats the reason i bought it though cuz the interior was really maintained, i guess i pwned myself. Body had its bads and goods. But body work is easy as hell just tedious.

100% and you arent well if you think differently. It may be different in canada, but it holds true in america. Go to Kelly blue book, look up 93 se coupe in auto and manual uinder suggested retail and tell me im wrong.

A new cars is more expensive with an automatic, used Camrys are more valuable with an automatic, but 240s ARE NOT worth more with automatics. I know you like your auto, but everyone else who likes 240s knows manual is better in this car.

That's awesome, but in Texas, you don't really have to worry about rust, faded paint and a cracked dash are common, I believe, but rust is harder to come by then up here, anything under 3k here is rusted to shit.

yeah regardless of what the blue book says, with stuff like this where there are not a great many of the certain cars around and kids are into it like 240's are currently people will sell autos for less and 5 speeds for more.

Ok i drove it today.
I havent owned manuel car before but have driven them enoughi n parking lots and streets. I do say the clutch kinda catches a bit late near the end of the release so does that mean its worn?
And another thing, my dad and i both drove it. He did fine and car acted normal. When i drove after putting into 4th and 1ce in 5th as clutch engaged car started to vibrate. I put it in 5th again and again vibrated. As i pressed on gas vibration got worse, as soon as i just barley press clutch it stopes.. released again and it started.
And i put in neutral and coasted for bit and put it again and then no vibration. I dunno what its about maybe you who already own one know what that might be. And another thign was that the engin was almost whole quart overfilled with oil.
Oil wasnt leaking or burning but their was oil around the engine, dirty and greasy so i figured it had soemthing to do with the extra oil.
Transmission shifts fine no like hard force or antyhing so i believe thats fine too.

So when your dad drove it didn't vibrate? It takes a little getting used to on manuals, what did your dad have to say about it?

The engine probably hasn't been washed in 15 years, that's why there's oil on the engine, how fast were you going when you put it in 5th?

Well he doesnt own manuel so he doesnt know what it is. When he drove it he was fine and didnt, but i dunno why it did it on me. Twice.
Ummm im guessing around 45-55? Harder id accelerate it got worse. So i dunno. I dunno the engine has about extra quart of oil so that might be something to do with the oil over engine. Its like around the valve cover so like it might coming from therE?
He said no leaks and doesnt burn oil soo.. I dunno what it could be.
Any ideas from you guys?

Bs that a 15 year old car is gonna cost more as an auto than a 5sp. Maybe if your a granny or mother of 5 kids, but i dont know many people out there who are into 240's and want an auto transmission...My parents didnt even know what a 240sx was untill i started really getting into them, and they have been driving nissans most of there life (4 sentras, 2 trucks, and a 300xz.).

just shift at 2.5k
if you in fact shifted into 5th at 4k then you shouldnt be bogging like that, unless you shift slow as hell
and my 89 fastback 5 speed was $900, 135k.
