firefly

I have a 95 firefly with headlight problems. When car is off and I turn on the headlights they do not come on but the warning bell does. If I pull on the high/low lever to 'flash' someone the lights come on for as long as I hold the lever. When I let go they turn off. Neither high or low beam work. When car is running with the switch off the headlamps turn on for daylight running but as soon as I turn on the selector switch they go off.Any help would be great

You must be from Canada, as the Pontiac Firefly is not sold in the US (it's a Geo/Chevy Metro/Suzuki Swift here). Not being familiar with these vehicles, maybe you can find your answer in the Metro forum.
