97 2.2 cavalier oil light engine knocking

I just changed my timing belt....Car was running fine...2 days later, the oil light comes on when I'm in idle...I hear a knocking sound ( tuck, tuck, tuck)..Changed the oil, on the oil pan cap found metal shavings...could they be from the timing belt?...knocking sound went away, but came back any ideas???

97's have belts and not chains for the timming?
