Here is the link to the new deck I just bought: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4039_150874695,00.html
This thing really kicks some ass! It is super loud, super clean, a lot easier to use then it seems and very easy to customize. I highly recomend it. $269 at circuit city with free installation. Any questions let me know!

wow, NICE CHOICE!
I own the Pionner Premiere DEH-P650 and it is awesome, you will get lost playing with all the features.

one of my room-mates got that one. that head unit is awsome. especially with the LOUDNESS on low, that thing hits nice on 2-12's in a sealed box. not sure how much wattage he's got though.

Yea I love it. The remote is really nice too. The one thing I do NOT like so far but might be able to tweak this feature is that when you are playing an MP3 disc you can hit the list button and scroll through the songs while you are listening to one, which is awesome, but let's say you choose a song, you listen to it for a few, you hit list again, it starts you back off at the first song and you have to scroll all the way around again. So if I am on song 80 and want to scroll from there I can't it starts me back off at song 1. But I totally agree the loudness set to low is amazing! Also there is digitial processing of the MP3's that you can choose that really cleans up the MP3 sound! Like amazing and actually had me sitting there going holy shit does that sound clean! The built in crossovers are friggin awesome and another feature which I have no use for but it did sound cool was that you can actually set the head unit to use your rear door speakers as subs! It kills the highs completely out and all you get is the bass coming out of the two door speakers and well it sounds decent! This thing is so versatile! I highly recomend it.

you will love it and I will procvlaim that for the money, Pioneer decks are the way to go.
More features per dollar than even Alpine.

lol..
Actually to be honest I'm not entirely sure. I've been looking at some 12" JL subs, but then I saw rlith's stealth box. We'll see.. I don't want to have to spend more than 350 bucks on an amp.

I have 2 JL 12" W0's that are about 9 years old and they have lost a step. They are bulky and in a sealed box. I use them all summer and they come out in the winter. I need the room for snowmobile and ski stuff. But I agree Rlith's stuff is bad ass!

Feature wise that similar to the DEH-6700 I have in the Wrangler... Nice unit..I'm a big fan of pioneer products (love me AVH-P6500DVD in my blazer) Now you need to add an SIR-PNR1 to that head unit and you will be set!

I have never owned anything pioneer and I don't think I ever will! I love the head unit. I am not even sure I will get an amp, this thing is so loud and clean! I posted some more info in my other thread on "batteries" that tlaks about the volt meter that is one of the screen savers that seems pretty accurate. Any more questions please ask! Anything to get away and run outside and play with my new toy!
ps now all I need to do is figure how to rig it onto my sled! hehe I am evil:evillol:

You won't need an amp, you have plenty of power.
Now replace the door speakers with aftermarket like I did. I replaced them all with 6.5" Infinity 6.5" and holy crap they hit hard.
That and my dual 10s in the back kinkin at over 700 watts rms.

I have polk 6.5's all around, 2 12 inch jl audios in a sealed box, 400 watt rms mono amp going to them. Read my signature it should be there. :lol2:

Nice deck. But I'm not into putting a deck into my blazer that require a spacer to fill up the left over space from the factory GM deck. Don't get me wrong, there are some NICE decks out there. But my gf has one in her blazer that sticks out so far you almost hit it with the shifter. And forget about opening it up to change a cd when in reverse. I have a Pioneer deck made specificly for a GM car. Fits right in and no empty space requiring a spacer. I just like the look alot better from the GM specific deck. Looks almost factory.

I hear you. My deck has spacers only filling the gaps from top to bottom, it mounts flush with everything else. It done not stick out any farther then the factory deck.

I had that problem with my 1st blazer (96). The head unit stuck out too far and just looked stupid. I bought my new blazer (99) and when i installed the stereo on that, they had a flush mount kit for it. Installed it and it looks awesome. After a lengthy discussion, you can get a flush mount kit for any vehicle as long as your head unit isn't too long. They space them out because some of these cars have a full din headunit. You go to a half din and the headunit is longer.
