I have a 2002 trailblazer. I would like to bring it to the dealer to get the computer updated. Im not sure of what has been done to the car so far as I dont know the last owner. How much can I expect to pay for this? This will be my 1st time to the dealer for anything and its not under warntee and Im afraid they will rip me off.

Why do you think the dealer will rip you off?

Be aware that there may or may not be updates for your PCM. Some updates are for specific concerns and can cause detrimental driveability conditions in vehicle that do not have the concern that the update will correct.

I had a flash update on my tb pcm for transmission shifting from 1st to 2nd. Took longer than expect to shift up when starting off from a stop. The update fixed it. I just wish the firmware would somehow show me the version it is running. (ie. 1.1.1.1 or 1.0.2.1...whatever.) So we here can keep track of what is what, and is good for what... Oh well... Maybe one day I can find some hack online that I can install on the pcm. or maybe I can even run Linux on my tb...:) Tuners' dream, hehehehe...

I feel you when you worry of dealers rip off... Although these days they seem to charge by the hour, $90/hr where I go to... They may charge you two hours to do that simple update in 3 mins...

dream on...
