Oil Filter Location?

I feel kinda stupid asking this because I've searched this forum and noone else seems to had had this problem. I don't know much about nissans so here goes.

Ok, My wifes 97 Altima needs an oil change and in most cases that wouldn't be a problem for me but I'm having trouble with finding the damn oil filter. It isn't sticking out from any where under the
engine and it's starting to really piss me off :banghead: If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be really appreciated. Thanx in advance.

The oil filter is under the intake manifold. You will have to raise the car and use safety stands. Look just above the passenger side axles.

If you don't have a lift it can be hard to get to the filter. On the 4cyl the filter is protected by a plastic shroud. You can push the shroud to the side to get into position but the clips may snap. I snapped mine and just zip tied it back on when I was done. Anyway it's on the passenger side.
