Ceramic or chrome?

I talked to the people at Thorley Headers and the price for some longtube headers is $447 for chrome nickel and $597 for Ceramic. Now from what i've heard the ceramic coated headers won't rust, but chrome will over time (how long?). So will it be worth it to shell out the extra $150 for ceramic?

Ceramic has another property that makes them worth the money. Ceramic disipates heat faster and does not retain heat pockets like chrome will.

I have the Thorley nickle plated lts. They blued up a bit, but still look great. I would shell out the extra money for the ceramic though. They will last longer and reduce the amount of heat.

So if I got ceramic I could do away with the manifold heat shields (i think that's what they are?)

If you want to get really fancy you can order the nickle coated headers and then have them ceramic coated in clear.

Definatly spend the extra money for ceramic, they will last longer, look better and like it was said dissipate heat better.

I wanted ceramic to keep things cooler under the hood for my new engine but all the header mfrs said fresh ceramic can't take the stress of new-engine break-in. So I ended up with the titanium powder coat (Ti-Tec) finish from Edelbrock.

This stuff is bulletproof. They clean up easily (cold) just wiping down with carb cleaner, and look like new again.

Definitely ceramic....spend a little more now so you don't have to worry about it later on
