i need a pic of the motor for a 71 302. i think its the 302W. i need to know which cyinders are which numbers because yesterday i did a tune up and i mixed up some of the wires i think. i already know the firing order because it says it on the intake. but if you could list that it would also be nice because its the intake from a mustang cobra and i don't know if it has the same firing order as a mustang coupe with a 302.

The 302w had its own firing order I think intil 1982 or so when they went with the 351w firing order. I think! So be sure its a 302 due to the different firing order. If the Cobra intake was off of a 302 then thats what it is due to the fact that a 351 has a higher deck hight so there fore the 302 & 351 have to use different intakes. I think that a 289 & 302 share the same intake. I think. Could be wrong on that one too. I've seen a pic of the firing order and what cylinder is what number somewhere. I'll post back if I can find it. Good luck.

1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 is your firing order for the 302. The Distributor rotates counterclockwise, and the #1 cylinder is the first one on the left side as you face the crankshaft pulley. Left bank is 1-4 and right bank is 5-8. Couldnt find the picture I was talkin about but I hope this helps.

yep. my prob was that it wouldn't fire and i could find out why. the only thing i knew is i was wasn't even getting a spark from the coil and after looking at it more i found out the points were set out too much and weren't hitting the cam to make them close and open. after reseting them and so they would open and close all is good. its surpriseing how much a tune-up can make the engine run better.
