I found a site a while ago about tapping into the transmission computer and adding toggle switches to shift gears in the transmission manually, I thought it sounded like something to try when I have nothing else to do, so I saved it in my favorites, and my favorites some how have been deleted. would anyone happen to know which site it was? I found it on one of the online jeep forum sites, that said something about locking up the torque convertor... I have looked all over and have come up unsucessful. I really would like to try this modification if I can find it again...

That is close but, the one that I was looking for had 4 switches, one to turn the mod on or off, one for first gear, one for 2nd gear, and one for 3rd gear...

Darkflash - part of the benefit is gas mileage. Rather than wait for rpms to climb in order to upshift, you can do it at a lower rpm using the shifter. If you're rock crawling or on severe trail with an auto, this would give you better control over shifting to make sure you stay in one gear.
Given the potential for heat buildup in the trans, sounds like you need to be real careful if you do this on the street.
95xj: I spent about 5 minutes in google finding this. It was the first link on the hit list. I settled on the following criteria: wire automatic manual transmission jeep aw4
Maybe what you want is one of the other links. Good luck

You're on your own now. :)
BTW: I found both of these on a thread on the NAXJA forums.
