I own a 96 aspire with 96K miles and while driving down the road the the car would not shift into second gear and while trying to pull over on the road the tranny completely failed! I get out the car to look and all I see is tranny fluid pouring out. Upon further inspection I see that the tranny fluid is coming out of a hole right behind the drain plug. I have no idea what was there. Did something fall out? I do not have any idea what was suppose to be there! Please help!

If it is a Auto Tranny You probably blowed a front or rear seal and lost pressure. It will have to be pulled and you do not want to drive it you may completly burn it up.

Hi, RE, Your blown transmission, IF, The hole you mention is actually in the trans houseing, You most likely-COMMON PROBLEM-lost a spider gear in the differential part of the transaxle. This happens with no warning usually..no other fix tan to replace the trans or rebuild it, the latter would be more expensive...Remember I said IF the hole is in the houseing.....GOOD LUCK..Clay..
