Using Touch up Paint

I have a black, 1999, honda civic and have bought the black pearl touch up paint (the same color as the car itself) for the car and plan to fill in some of the scratches and one major scrape. Does anyone have any advice on how to make this look as good as possible? Thanks alot! -Gabe
