89 Lesabre speedometer doesn't work

I own a 1989 Buick Lesabre 76k original miles....well maintained.
The speedometer and odometer stopped working simultaneously the other day. The only movement I get from it is when the ignition is turned on or off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll take a stab at this one. It sounds like your VSS (vehical speed sensor) may of gone out. Does your cruse work? It also uses the VSS. Did you have work reciently done on the car? They could of disturbed something.

Just some thoughts from afar.

Check your ign module ground cable. I recently learned that when this cable is loose, the entire dash will act up.
