t-bird 89 starting problem

I have a 89 3.8 t-bird. Over the last 3 years it has twice developed a starting problem. It will turn over but not start. Later in the day it will fire. It seems to happen in the fall season only.

My solution has been to reset the fuel pump switch in the trunk! It seems that it develops enough resistance to cause the pump to stop working. ( or so it seems)

I have found that in most of the manuals there is no mention of this switch. Also Have not found any mention of the black box (next to the switch) on the trunk side wall with a few dozen wires going in or out.

A permenant solution would be to cut and connect the 2 wires to the fuel cutout switch but don't think that would be a good safety idea.

Thought I would mention it as there have been a few threads which seem to have the same symtoms.

what kind of oil do you use?

I use 10W30 - live in Western Canada.

ya i had a problem like that where it would turn over and not start....i replaced the crank sensor and it starts everytime
