2001 Sante Fe Crank Shaft Position Sensor... $765.00???

Sante Fe, the 4 cylinder model of 2001, with the 10 yr. 100K warranty. I have 66K miles on mine. The crank shaft sensor (part# 3931038070) has gone bad, and causes it to stall when hot. The dealer says this item is not part of the drive train that’s covered. I thought all none wear items were covered???? There’s a recall for this same item on the 6 cylinder engine.

Any Suggestions??

Thanks,
Kevin

Well, ended up getting a mechanic to install, along with new belts. Purchased parts from dealership and the mechanic charged $300.00.

Saved a little.

Since there is a recall on the 6 cylinder sensor, wonder why there isn't one on the 4 cylinder??? My luck...

Even thought the price is way better than 765, 300 is still alot to me. But then again, I am about to go in for my 30K checkup and its going to cost me about 518. Yikes.

Yep, I'm not sure what's involved in replacing the timing belts and sensor. Looks like a tight squeeze to try to do it with the engine in place. Not sure if he had to drop the engine or not?

Cheers,
Kevin

I have a 2004 Santa Fe. It is stalling while driving and almost immediately restarts. I have a 4 cyl. std. so it actually seems to stall and bump start itself right after. This problem seems to go away after about 10 min of driving. This is a clean stall, as if I turned the key off and right back on. Has anyone heard of this on the 2004 Santa Fe with the 4cyl. std???
I am booked for 10am tomorrow and the service guy said he had "never heard of that before" - so I am worried I am going to get taken. 100,000 km.
Thanks,!!!!!!!!!!!
