Lady can you take some pictures from a distance, I am thinking about grabbing a set of headlights but not sure how they look. Also to open up headlights or corner lights you should use a heat gun, boiling can work sometimes and baking at around 250 can loosen it up too, but heat guns work the best.

Yeh they look str8. My friend bought the can from a local shop "Car Boutque" and smoked them. They cost around 5-10 bucks. They do look good with thos projectors though.:)

CZ_R tried to reply t this lastnight but had login issues. so, i told him i would post this up for him in the meantime. here is how he did it:

"Hi All!

I'm glad you like the way the clears turned out :-). I'll try to answer any/all questions you have. First of all, I did try the "boiling" method. That was my first experiment & I tried it on my old set of clears. They were kinda beat up anyway. The boiling didn't work. Ok, well, it worked to get the lenses apart, but it also disformed the entire housing. So I just bought a new set & thought of something else.

My next plan was to cut them apart from the back. THEY ARE NOT SMOKED! (though that was going to be an option if the cutting didn't work ~ which it did). Basically all I did was cut out the back of the housing with a Dremel & cut-off wheel (very carefully!), grind off all the chrome inside with a wire-wheel, spray paint the housing with gloss black (so it would still reflect light) & hot-glue the whole thing back together.

That's it. It takes some time because you have to be careful not to cut too far into the housing. Otherwise you'll start cutting into the actual lense & that would be bad. I just did the same thing to my bumper lense housings last night & they were a LOT easier! They look just as sweet, but the car is in dire need of a bath before I take any pics :-).

The cool thing is that you can paint the inner housing whatever color you want! I chose black to match the headlights, but you could also paint it to match your car, or graphics, or whatever! If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me:
[email protected]

Laterz,
CZ-R"

now, when he gets a chance to login....you guys give him a HUGE welcome!!! some of you might remember him from yahoo board and sometimes on HB. anyways, he's hella cool and a true honda-holic :)

Thanks for the info. As soon as I get my clear corners, I'm gonna do that. Do you have to grind off all the chrome plating, or can you just paint over it?

Is it easier just to smoke them? I mean they look the same as my friends.

crxlvr

Guys how is the lighting on projectors? I used to have an accord but never bought the aftermarket lights because everyone who had them said the gave out very little light.

The lighting is great. They're bright as shit.

hey guys, i just tried taking apart my corner assemblies, and its easy as all hell. what I did was heat it up with a hair dryer( :o ), then SLOWLY pried off the lens with a flathead screwdriver. It sounds like your lights are cracking, but if you make sure to go real slow, its just the glue making that cracking noise(its pretty brittle shit). I have pics of it apart if you guys wanna see them. Ill post finished pics tomorrow. Dont worry CZ-R im not biting your smoked scheme :D its gonna be somethin else :D

CZ-R
05-15-2002, 05:20 PM
LOL! I don't care if you bite the style ~ that's why I posted the instructions! Oh, and I honestly don't know how bright the projectors are at night. I haven't had the chance to drive the highways at night to see.

I almost forgot... I DIDN'T paint over the chrome, I grinded it all off. Though I suppose if you rough it up enough with some sandpaper you could paint over it...

I didn't plan on painting it at all, but when I grinded all the chrome off the inner housing looked all grey. So I figured the gloss black would reflect the light better & it did!!

EightOhOne
05-15-2002, 08:15 PM
yeah, i just sanded all the chrome out as well :D

heres the finished product...who needs visions when you can have ILLUSIONS. :o :coolguy: thanks for the idea :D :D

Would it look okay if you just took off the reflective parts and left the chrome backing?

silver89civic
05-30-2002, 12:11 AM
have u guys seen the 4g black projectors with the angel ring around the lights??? Those look tight on the 92-95 civics...
I wonder if they are gonna make those for our cars :flash:

OldSchoolHatch
05-31-2002, 02:19 AM
Does anyone understand my question about removing the reflective stuff but not the chrome backing? I want to make the clear corners look better and not so cheap, but I'm not sure I want them smoked since I don't have the projectors. Please let me know...

sastanley
05-31-2002, 09:45 AM
Dude...I don't think you can remove the reflective material....I think it is incorporated into the lens itself. I agree they look a little cheap. I wish they made more of a "euro clear" corner for our cars, I think they would look much better.

ci5ic
05-31-2002, 12:05 PM
Word.

Well how come these smoked ones dont look cheap? Is it cause we can't see them close up?

ci5ic
06-02-2002, 02:15 PM
Okay, I FINALLY got the pics of my black-housing projectors! Kinda hard to see with the reflection, but you get the idea... Still waiting for my clear corners so I can black 'em out though.

you guys with projectors, did you have to upgrade your harness? I mean can you use your stock regular bulbs with projectors???

CZ-R
06-03-2002, 10:48 AM
You use your stock harnesses. They plug in just fine. I don't know about everyone else, but my projectors came with bulbs. My stock bulbs were the exact same, so I put my gold bulbs in the projectors :)

Thanks CZ-R... Ive read somewhere that people are using H3 bulbs, whats the difference vs the stocks???:)

CZ-R
06-03-2002, 11:27 AM
H3's??? Not sure how that would work. My old PIAA 1200's used H3's. That bulb is COMPLETELY different than the 9006's my Civic uses. The gold bulbs that I use are a lot brighter than the stocks, light up everything more clearly & look pretty bad-ass. :) Everyone (here), and I mean everyone is/was using the "super-white" (blue) bulbs. So I thought I'd be different with the gold ones - plus my car is gold...

Laterz,
CZ-R

Cool then I can still use my super white bulbs...but I did put my stock clear yellow output bulbs for my blinkers with clear corners, just in case cops look at my car:D

Soooo, does anyone have a good method of keeping the corner lenses from falling off the assembly once you put em back on? :p

I was looking through old posts and figured I would revive this on ci5ic's behalf.

Wowzers! Talk about an old thread! hehehe

Those are just for decoration I guess...

I've been trying to figure out a way to turn one of those things in between into a turn-signal, since I don't have my bumper lenses anymore...

Does anyone have a set of projectors they wanna get rid of?

sastanley
09-16-2002, 10:51 PM
Damn...those projectors are so bad-ass. Alas, the exhaust comes first - and since I have the charcoal grey...I think it will look pretty good on my car too - smoked corners and smoked projectors - oh yeah!! :D
