The heater blower motor replacement.
I couldn't believe it when I read the service manual so I waited until my wife got home to check my '97 and if you look at the ac/vent ductbox on the passenger side of the firewall under the hood you'll see "Cut here for motor access" scribed on the airbox. That's right, cut the airbox open with a utility knife is the instruct in the service manual.
The computer on top of the coolant overflow tank and the overflow tank itself have to be removed to access the airbox so you can cut it open to gain acess to the blower motor. I'm gonna check at the Blazer site to see if anyone has pictures posted.
For all that trouble, I'd replace the blower with a brand new one....the manual even tells the tech to put the thing back together with black tape. :lol2:

The instructs are similiar to the manual but the illustration at the bottom of the page is right off the manual. It's the lower paragraph called Utility.

So..how does a poor design equal GM being a crook?

It's not poor design, it's a hidden blower motor. Extra time to fix, run up the hours...instead of removing several screws and replace with a $23 part, you have to CUT the housing apart. I think it's like that to scare away inexperienced DIY'ers from what would've been one of their better achievments at saving a few bucks doing it themselves.
