oh ya you will deffinatly notice...im not an engine guro but im pretty sure it will be a pretty big difference...i think the basic 383 put out about400 hp and the basic 350 puts out around 250-300hp.....now this is all guesing from what i have seen on the internet...but i think it should help a little

If you are going to bore it and stroke it you'll probably need to get a better than stock water pump and maybe even a larger radiator. More friction means more heat and heat is BAD. While you're at it why don't you build the heads and get a nice intake with a good carb and you will probably have crazy HP. Good luck.

as of now i have a dart kool can intake and i'm debating on wheather or not to go with throttle body, carb, or a tpi set up i have all 3 redily available. as for the heads i want new ones but there's so many out there what ones would i want to get? i have a set of harland sharp adjustable roller rockers and i don't have a cam yet but i'm looking at a roller cam and lifter set from crane or comp so far as the crank i'm looking at a forged scat 383 crank other than that i haven't given the rest much thought... comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Go with a 58mm ramjet throttlebody. And trust me. A 383 will smoke damn near any 350 provided they are both stock. If mods of similarity are put into both engines, the 383 will smoke the 350 bad.

Def. go witht he 383. 4.030" bore 3.75" 4340 crank. Then get yourself some forged H-beam rods and either low or high compression pistons (depending on whether your going N/A or FI). Use ARP rod and main bolts when doing the assembly.

As for the top end, I would go EFI. I would acually do a LTX setup. Get yourself some LT4 heads (GM casting or you could go with GTP or AFR if you got the money). If you get those heads then you have to go with the LT4 intake manifold. Then get a hold of Lloyd Elliot and have a LE3 setup for a 383 done. Its a H/C package that makes a lot of power. Do all the mods to go with it (IE 1 3/4 or larger long tube headers, 37+lb injectors, walbro or equivalant pump, 58mm TB... either butterfly or even better is a monoblade).

When it comes to the computer, get yourself a LT1 computer out of a '95 and find the matching harnesses to go with it. That way you can run an OBDI computer (tunes better) but still have a OBDII connector (easier to find software and do self tuning).

PM me if you have any questions about where to find this stuff beucase I have all the links and information you need.

I have a LT1 right now that I'm building... sent heads and intake out to Lloyd and do the mods that go with it. Got some pretty good numbers for being on stock cubes. PM if you want some numbers as well.

Hope that helps... and a reminder to ALL other posters, thats just my opinion.

go get a new performance automotive warehouse catalog online and grab a stroker kit (alot cheaper than buying individual components-about 1300 for the crank kit).tpi is alot more eficient to run than carb. but is also alil more expensive..generally.but if u do decide on f.i. i would go with accel's ramjet.if carb..then edelbrock victor/bg speed demon series.

eagle or c and a rods/scat crank/comp cams 280 + duration/.500 lift cam lifter set/victor heads and intake/speed demon 750-850cfm carb/hooker headers/milodon pan/pump/je pistons should get u 450-500+hp..go with a lower compression...add a procharger supercharger ( d1) and get about 650-700 hp......but for god sakes buy a tranny(tci) and axles(strange)/gear(richmond) that will hold up to the power.

i watched a dude with a '69 nova leave the line and his rearend....if u build a mean ass motor u gotta have something to back it up too.
