i am working on a 89 chevy 1500 with a 5.7 in it when i put it in gear it tends to turn off. and somtimes when i come to a stop it turns off too it seems to me like if the idle on it is low but it has no tech to look at or a idle adjuster on it and i dont have a scan tool to look at all the data
any advice will be highly appreciated. thanks

Could be the TCC Solenoid is bad or sticking. With the torque converter locked up at idle it will stall.

It might be the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve). This is located in the throttle body on the left side as you look at the engine. It is identified by an electrical connector (4 pin) plugged into the end of it and a big 1-1/4 in hex base where you remove it. You can take it out and clean it with carburetor cleaner and re-install or buy a new one. Important... make sure upon re-install, the distance between the mounting base of the valve to the very tip of the pintle does not exceed 1-1/8 in (28mm). If it does, the pintle will be too far into the TBI to function properly and your problem will not be resolved. How to adjust the valve... Simply pull down slightly on the pintle spring and turn the pintle counter-clockwise until the appropriate distance is met. Hope this helps.
