Automatic door lock

I have a '96 Lumina and before I could get in and out and start up the car and shut it off and the locks would not do anything until I hit the button. Now after about 3 months of sitting I noticed that every time I start the car it locks and when I shut it off it un-locks. Is there any way to disable this feature? Thanks.
