1986 Z28 alternator change out

I have a 1986 Z28 that needs an alternator. The problem is that the 86 Z28 came with a .305 ci as it's biggest engine. My problem is that mine has had a .350 ci engine installed. My question is: How would I tell someone at a parts house what I need? If they look it up, it won't show a .350!

Try to find out which 350 it is, what year and whatnot and I should think that a knowledgeable auto parts salesman will be able to get you the right part.

Unless they went to a serpentine pulley system with the engine swap, it won't make any difference. The alternator is the same, and as long as you have the single groove pulley setup (v-belt), tell them you have an '86 305 TPI and you will get a 108 amp alternator.

Thanks for the advice to those of you who sent me tips on what to do about my alternator on my 86 IROC! Come to find out it was just a loose belt...lol! Appreciate the help, guys! I got to get me a digital camera, so I can put a pic of my IROC on here! Take em easy!
