Simple cleaning question...

OK guys. I've been told that the best cleaning products to use of the burl walnut trim of my aurora are those Mother's cleaning stuff. Well, today I used a cheap mix of dish detergent (a mild solution) and warm water. It cleaned everything very very well. After cleaning, I waited for it to dry and then buffed it all with a clean, lint free washcloth. Everything is shining now, even the chrome trims. In the long run though, should I think about protecting the trim in the car with a product like mothers, or can I stick to the soapy water without problems.

Next one... I've used products to remove brake dust in the past with varied success. I'm thinking about getting one of those mothers powerballs that I saw Chip Foose using on tv. I'm sure they clean well, but I'm also looking for a cleaning product that will repel brake dust after application. I've thought about using those cleaners that contain teflon, but I'm not really sure how sensitive the polished chrome wheels on the 02 are. I've also seen brake dust shields, which are applied over the brake/rotor assembly. It seems like a good idea, but it would probably look tacky. Has any one used something like this in the past? I like to see the big rotors on this car. I think it adds to the curb appeal and makes it much more pleasing to the eye. That's what I think anyways. But, if using a brake shield would keep my wheels clean, it may be a tradeoff I'd be willing to make.
