If you want a stock replacement speaker, just go to a junkyard or dealer and get or order one. As far as aftermarket, I'm not sure. I'd just go with a stocker unless you're looking to upgrade your audio system.

You can buy aftermarket speakers for fairly cheap. Pioners, Kenwood, or JVC would sound 100 times better than factory 6x9's. Factory speakers arnt the best, not even with the monsoon stereo. My 01 GA has the monsoon and I threw in some Jenson 150 w 6x9s in back and it sounds Way better than stock speakers.

thanks guys...ill most likely get aftermarket speakers...i had all pioneers in my old car but i diddnt want to venture into aftermarkets for this car becuase i read somewhere that they fuck up the amp in the trunk or something....but if others have done it without trouble then most likely thats what ill just do....i do realize they sound so much better than stocks...

My buddy has a Grand Am and he blew his speakers. So he went with pioneers allthe ay around and it hits hard I dont know what kind of music yuo listen to, but his car sounds like he has like a 10 in sub in the trunk. So I would go with pioneer.

XI, I didn't mention it, but my passenger side rear speaker is blown. Now that you say that, I'm considering replacing the blown speaker with an aftermarket one. Should I do both in back? Where could I find the Jenson 150's? Do I just plug them into the existing connectors and I'm good to go?

I did pioneer in mine, plus a pioneer head unit as the factory radio was crap, they can't seem to take enough abuse. Try best buy or circuit city. Radio Sh*t might even have some, but you can find a better deal than that. The fun part is front door speakers, on 92-98's they are the oddest shape....

Hey Ride! I got my back speakers here at Cuircut City http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/categorylist.do?c=1&mobileFitAction=seeWhatFits&carId=&year=1999&make=PONTIAC&model=GRAND+AM&type=4DR+SEDAN&trim=WITH+3.4L+ENGINE+AND+STANDARD+AUDIO+SYSTEM&carFilter=true&c=1&catOid=-13092&N=20013088+20013092+743
I had to buy a wiring harness so they'd hook up without hacking stuff up. They said they'd install for like $40, but I wasnt wasting $40 on something so easy to do. Kinda glad to, because I sold my 01' last week, and I put the stockers back in. I found this nice Jenson Receiver at best buy, for the price, I'm picking one up today!

The speakers in the 01 GA SE worked(sounded like stck crap), just not how I like them too. And I sold the car because I made $4k on the deal. I spent $620 on brakes/rotors seat covers and a few other things. Only paid $5k(53k miles) for the car, so ya I couldnt pass up the offer of $9500 cash.
Now I'm going to buy a 2dr GA GT. They are a bit shorter and lighter than a 4dr SEs and this one wont be a sleeper.

Damn.... good deal on the SE, XI. As far as the speakers, does it come as 2 speakers? Or do I actually need to order 2? And where would I get the harness?
I thought you already had a GT? And by "not being a sleeper" do you mean you're going to make sure everyone knows its modded, or what? :evillol: - gimmee the lowdown! :)

I paid about 100$ for a pair of the Jenson 150 watts. They hav the harness, i forget what it cost, not much though. I actually bought mine in the store not online. I rarly do go to any stores, they just dont hav late enough hours for me.
Oh ya, the pic you see of my car would appear to be a GT, but its an SE. I hav a GT chip and the ram air duct from a 04 GT. the one pictured is a sleeper, because it still says SE on the sides.
So when the jerks with the imports and thier loud ass subs in the back and thier oil dripping exhausts, reving the engine like its one of those spoon motors from the F&F movies, and thinks he wants to race my SE to the next intersection or so, I put them in their place. LAST ! LOL! Its not a 10 second car, but neither is most cars on the road.
Hoping I can find an 99-02 GA GT with under 100kmils, for around $4-5k. That way I can afford to buy some new body mods, and lower it 2" all around w/ 18" wheels.
I'm not much of a body work guy. But I hav installed bumpers on new cars, the parts were Certified as OEM so they fit well. Painting I can do, I just dont hav a booth(as of yet) to spray, and over spray in the shop is not good on Customers rides.LOL. I've heard some body kits need fitted and drilled in spots to get a good fit. I'll just hav to buy one and see how it goes. Havnt picked a specific Kit yet though. RK looks/sounds good but expensive. Andy's place http://andysautosport.com/ has nice looking kits too.

Oh OK. I'll have to go hit up circuit city then sometime. It's weird, because when I searched on the website, it only had a bunch of 4 x 6's fitting my car

I hear ya XI - I'm on my 3rd set of fascias for my car. (long story). If you're going to get a body kit, just make sure you get a "clean" looking one. Those ones that have like 50 inlets / scoops / slots on them look like ricer-ific garbage. Just make sure you find one that looks good and clean.

Ya the monsoon speakers are diff. than the SE. I thought they were all 6x9's with the tweeters on the side, like up front(two way + crossover). The speakers stock mount from the top rear deck down(4x6 hole), i mounted mine from bottom up and the 6x9 fits it just has the lip/edge of speaker cover'd by the deck(new grill covers). It still sounds 100% better than stocks spkrs.
I still hav the black SE pictured(sleep'r), it was the White SE I bought a few months ago that I sold last week. LOL< you can use my quote about the streetie racers with thier pollution-mobils.
Ya I dont need abunch of cut-up facias(body kits), something simple that that look KOOL. I bumped a cart out of the way at the mall and cracked my front bumper, about 3-4". A month later I rear ended someone parked in the middle of the highway with no hazzards or tail lights on, in the early morning, I was going under 5mph(wet road), but it still tripped the air bags and pretty much wasted the front. It was still drivable but looked terrible though.

just measure the holes from the underside of the rear deck and you will see the holes that a 6x9 will fit. I find it , again, strange that the Monsoon stereo, which is premium compared to stock reciever, has 4x6's in it and not 6x9.
