Has anyone seen the new Torrent? I seen one on AE channel last night. They look like a morphed PT cruizer. Is the HHR the same truck/suv type as the Torrent?
A local dealer has a SSR and another dealer has the GTO. IS the SSR and the HHR both chevys? The SSR is like $40k and the GTO is $36k, which would you buy? I think I'd take the GTO any day.

I like the looks of the new torrent, i believe it's based on the Chevy Equinox. The SSR and HHR are both Chevy's, the HHR's designer is the same guy who designed the PT cruiser ( from what i had heard on one of those auto shows) that's why it looks very similiar in the lines.... out of all of them I would still buy a GTO ANYDAY!

I can sum up the new GM line-up in one word....
UGLY!!!!!
I have always owned GM vehicles, but if the current design trends continue, I won't buy anything they build (that's pratical for everyday use) newer than 03. The 04-ups are all ugly. The GTO is one of the sweetest driving cars I've ever driven, but they look like a bastard child of a Cobalt and a Pontiac whatever. The Solstice shows that they can design a good looking car, but a 2-seater isn't practical (same for the Corvette).

i dont like GM as well as I used to, they are some really plain cars and trucks. I think the GTO looks like the G6, just with beafier equipment. I am really tired of these FWD cars. They droped Camaros, and Olds. Dont know who the hell runs the place but GMs going to shit.
About the Only new cars i like is the GTO from Gm, and the Dodge Charger w/ HEMI, which is $10k less than the GTO. The Hemi will give the GTO a good run for the money. Solstice looks nice, but I wouldnt own one. For the money I'd almost buy a new Mustang before either the GTO or the Charger. For what they want for a GTO you car buy an original 65-69 GTO fully restored for $25-30k(thats the BBB[Balanced Big Block] W/4 spd).
American Auto manufacturers had better watch out, because alot of peolpe are buying imports with more horses and better fuel economey. Either way they still all break down, some just more than others.
100 mpg, thats what we need, or an electric that never needs charged with extention cords. One in which the charge occurs as you drive. It will happed, just as pulse detonation engines will happen in our life time.

Pontiac has 13,000 orders for the new Solstice.
Cadillac had their best sales last year since in over a decade.
The new Dodge Charger R/T costs about $29,000 while the new GTO costs $33,000.
Few cars have more hp than the new Saleen S7 Twin Turbo. Heck, few exotics are even raced.

The new Charger shouldn't have four doors, but Dodge will make a new Challenger by 2010.
Likely Challenger: Dodge prepping a rear-drive coupe to take on Ford's Mustang

DETROIT -- Watch out, Ford Mustang. Dodge is preparing a challenger.
In fact, it's likely to be called Challenger.
Chrysler plans to resurrect a respected name from the pony car era for a rear-wheel-drive Mustang fighter, industry sources say. The car is expected in 2009 on the LX platform, the basis of the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum and Charger.
"It is a two-door, essentially a competitor for the Mustang," says Catherine Madden, a production analyst for industry research group Global Insight. "They are really excited about it."
Madden says the sport coupe is planned to debut in 2009, when the next-generation LX vehicles are scheduled to be re-engineered and restyled.
"They would be able to make some additional investment in the platform, make some adjustments for that product" at that time, she says.
"The enthusiasm for that product," Madden says, is "very big."
Chrysler hopes to sell 60,000 to 70,000 of the cars a year, she says. An assembly site was not identified. Production of the 300, Magnum and recently introduced Charger is expected to fill Chrysler's Brampton, Ontario, assembly plant.
Chrysler officials are not talking about the car, but industry analysts say they are familiar with the plans.
Jim Hall, vice president of industry analysis at AutoPacific Inc., says he isn't sure Chrysler can pull it off. "They have a lot of stuff that has to be cleared off the table before they start playing around with that car," he says.
The redesigned 2005 Mustang has exceeded initial sales estimates. Ford expects to build 192,000 Mustangs this year, and most retail units are selling at a price near the sticker.
The 1970-74 Challenger was Dodge's answer to the original Mustang, as well as the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Mercury Cougar, and AMC Javelin.
