This is a depressing night for me. I parked my Camaro for the winter today, since they salt the hell out of the roads here in MN. Now I have to drive my ugly, slow, rusted out Econobox for probably the next 4 months... Boo

yeah man its time for snow up that way in the next few weeks. when i was stationed in grandforks N.D. it started snowing around the first 2 weeks of october. and MN aint that far from there so i know its about the same. i dont miss living up north and the entire plug your damn car in thing...it sucked ass! sorry u cant drive your baby i know u are pissed. u should move here in fl.

No, it's not all that cold up here yet, but I just started school again and I don't like letting it sit in the parking lots there too many dicks who will f-up somebodies ride just to be funny. Plus, I just had to change the oil and I wanted to park it with relatively few miles on the new oil so there isn't crappy oil sitting in the engine all winter.

I'm gonna have to garage my baby too, i think I might still have a month left though. Hey insurance-wise how much is it costing you for the Camaro while you drive your other car? I'm gonna phone my dudes tomorrow and see how much it costs for a garaged car.

CamarosRsweet94

I should keep Comp on the camaro while I have it stored but I don't. I looked into it and it would cost me more to put comp. on it than what I pay for liability while I'm driving it in the summer, that is why I don't put it on. However, I do know that the liability for my camaro is barely higher than what I pay for liability on my 1990 corolla I drive in the winter, and let me say that it is one fine automobile...

Well its cause he's only adjusted to handle mostly hot weather.. I bet if you came down here to Texas or Florida you'd be like "HOW THE HELL CAN YOU HANDLE THIS TYPE OF HEAT?!" because its mostly 100 and up with lots of nice humidity

I wouldn't put one of those bras on my car ever, those things are ugly to begin with not to mention the fact that they scratch the shit out of your paint job and can cause the paint underneath not to fade so your car looks really bad when you take the bra off. Plus, my concern with the salt is more for the chassis of the car, exhaust system, and the body too so the bra won't do.

I just did the same thing recently. My car went down for the winter about a month ago. Cancelled insurance aswell, considering the car will be down for 8-10 months. Paying for school outta pocket and gotta nasty credit card bill i'm trying to get down, plus an up coming swap, which i can't wait to start. I hate not being able to drive my maro. I just use my grandma's corolla to get to places that i need to get badly, if not really important, public transportation works for me.

Haha todays high so far was 82, and it gives WELL into the negatives here in the winter. Like last winter, a kid in Massachusetts almost died waiting for the bus, and he was only out for like 10 or so minutes. Maine sucks, too hot in summer, too cold in winter.

I live in Miami, and at 55 its about as cold as it is in wisconsin at 35 (I visited wisonsin at 25-35 degrees so I know). becuse of the humidity in the air, remember miami is surrounded by the ocean.

????

:eek7:When does 55* = 35*... EVER. Humidity ain't all that big of a factor, and if anything humdity makes the HEAT feel hotter...

:screwy: once you get below 32* (or there about) there is virtually no humidity....

I don't think anyone in the history of Miami or even the whole state of Florida, has ever experienced anything even remotely close to a northern winter. Think about it... you guys get a friggin tropical storm or hurricane anywhere from December thru February and you get rain... we get buried. North Dakota??? Wisconsin??? if you're from Miami you are way out of touch with reality if you think you've ever had a winter down there like one anywhere from the midwest on up.

I live in michigan and its not that bad, that only bad thing is there is no change time between seasons, what i mean by that is that it will be nice and hot, and then one day all of the sudden its really damn cold no slow change of going down slowly each day just BAM cold. same when summer is coming there is virtually no spring, one day it could snow the next it could be 85 and sunny and the next day it could be freezing again. kinda weird but you get used to it.

yeah, but only if you're stupid about the weather and don't use your head when it comes to being out in it, like drinking a lot of water in the heat and staying inside when it's too cold... it's called natural selection.

are you calling me an alcoholic? :sly:

But of course that was a light joke, since it can very rarely happen. Last winter there was a lot of commotion when the heating power went out in nyc apartment buildings. And this summer year was a heat wave fest. I worked outside everyday and they urged us to stay hydrated, etc. But NY does have extremely erratic weather conditions, mostly because we're on the water. go figure

And call me insane but I'll drive just about anything through all weather(240sx through snow storm). And even though I plan to work on the engine this winter, I don't think snow would stop me. It will be the heaviest RWD i've driven though. my 2 cents

instantkevin

i don't think i can park my car for a few months. i think the 7months my car was garaged for during the swap is the longest it will ever sit in one spot. I have driven my car thru 2 winters now (with an open differential, mind you) and about 4 serious snow storms. no signs of problems.

as long as you wash it frequently and stay smooth on the throttle and brakes.... it's fine... in my opinion.

Well, your insurance company isn't my insurance company, don't you think that if it was cheap I would put it on? I don't like taking the risk of something happening to my car, but it's just not worth the cost of the storage/comp. insurance on it.

Some of you are starting to sound like my kids here... Grow up, listen to the suggestions that are being put out there. Check on storage insurance, check with your parents insurance company see if they will let you drop the car from the policy while you have it stored. There is nothing wrong with asking questions, don't get upset when you don't get the answer you are looking for. I think its a valid suggestion, shop around as there is nothing wrong with getting the most bang for your buck, especially with insurance companies.

It's called hypothermia.

Offtopic: I learned how to snowboard last year in -15 up at Hunter Mountain(largest artificial snowmakers). I wasn't wearing a mask and my face went numb, some had already gone to the infirmary that morning for frost bite. The best part was the hill was like sliding on ice, so the next time I got to snowboard, it would feel a lot smoother...there never was a next time, but there will be!!! That was fun as hell.

I didn't want any suggestions, I have checked on storage insurance and have decided against it in the past, and have for the past three years simply dropped the car from the insurance. I just hate it when people who think they know everything have to force their opinions on certain situations on everyone.
