Coolant over flow leak from Res.

Hey, I have a o1 GA. I drove home from work 2 day and when I parked for a few minutes I noticed there was a small amount of coolant on yhe ground. I checked under the hood and did not c any visible leaks. Then I checked the Res. tank and noticed a small stream running along the engine compartment. Anybody got any ideas on what it might be? Thermostat? Thx The Man

These reservoirs on GAs are strange. They overflow easilly(essepecailly when ran hard in hot weather). Does the reservoir look low ? If not I wouldnt worry to much just yet. You can prop the hose end up higher by placing the hose behind the cruz controls lines. this will keep it from what i call the syphon effect, it overflows and the vaccum pulls out more coolant than it should. My 99s always loosing alittle coolant(about half gal a year) from the overflow, even though i hav the hose proped up. Could be needing a new cap on the reservoir too. If the leak persists try taking off the reservoir and cleaning it out this may help.

Thank u very much, and to your ? about the res being low, I had to add some dex just before the summer began. Because the low coolant light came on and also when I removed the cap it came off in two pieces, first the cap then there was a plug if some sort. I will try the first suggestion u recomended so thx again, Peace...The Man

My res cap was in two peices too. The pieces snap back together, but they dont stay together, I just bought a new one recently. I'm always ADDing coolant in my 99'. If the low coolant light comes on, I immediately check the level. My wife ran it low one day and cooked all the oil out too. Luckily it didnt ruin the motor.
