4th gen Si PWNS LAPD

Sometime between Saturday night - Monday morning my 92 Si was stolen from my friends shop (I actually sold it to another friend but he hasn't changed the registration yet so it's still under my name). Monday morning my shop-owner friend called me and said it's missing. He filled out the police report and started the insurance procedures...

...then Tuesday night I get a call from my friend - the LAPD has found the car but they won't release it to him because he's not the registered owner. They needed me to drive to the spot where they found it and they would release it to me.

When I get there the cop told me the story - they were pulling into a restaurant to eat dinner when they see my Prelude flying down the street running red lights like he was already being chased (he wasn't). The cops start to chase him but they couldn't catch up - the guy zig-zagged up three blocks and by the time the cops turned the third corner they had lost him! Then they did a pattern search and found it abandoned in someone's driveway (only minor damage to the front left corner).

When they found out my friend (the shop-owner) had just rebuilt it they told him he did a good job - they said that thing (the lude) was fast - they couldn't catch up on the turns or the straights. The cops were pretty funny - calling each other "loser" because this was the 4th stolen car suspect they lost this month.

Sorry for the long post - just wanted to let you all know that you don't have to pull over when you see those red lights in your mirror :naughty:

jk- obey the law.

Yeah, why did you sell it? Is there another lude in the future?

I already have a 96 Lude that's my daily driver - the Lude I sold needed some bodywork and my friend wanted to buy it to fix up. The bodywork was done (but not painted) and it was waiting at the shop to be picked up when it was stolen. Now we have to replace/repair the left fender and headlight again - hopefully the insurance will cover it.

I believe in karma - so I'm thinking the car thieves will be caught eventually, and as the cop told me as he was leaving "We'll hold him down and you can take turns punching him".
