Best all-around spark plugs

What's the best plugs for the 1.9L engine? Not fater extra power or anything, just reliable and efficient. I was tupid and got some Bosch Plats awhile ago, kinda silly now that I think of it, at least one is ticking away like crazy under load.
Anybody know what the stock/OE plugs are?

motorcraft were the stock ones they are at autozone and llisted on thier site. I have them in my car and they seem to be doing well

I got the MotorCraft Platinums in my 3g. Nothing has been better.

How about the AutoLite cheapies?

I got the Iridium ones from NGK. I got at least four mpg on them. I waited till they were on sale at Parts Source. I love them, the car gets better throttle responce and its a smother ride. (I got the dyno sheet from my emmisions test and both curves are smother.)

The only thing you have to watch out for with the plugs is they are made out of a denser material then most plugs. (When you have plugs made out of a dence material then they will not expand as much as other plugs when hot.) Therefore they will vibrate loose. I have to tighten them one a month, or depending on how much I drive. Theres a simple check just start the engine and put your finger on the boot of the plug wire, if you feel a slight vidration then they need to be tightened. (oh and dont do it while the engine is hot, it will strip the threads on the block!)

How about the Bosch. What'sa matter with them. I've got some +4's and the car definently runs smoother and I get better mileage with them.

I heard two stories about them 1 is they don't have longevity and 2 they allegedly fall apart inside the cyl.

After reading the last post about them coming apart in the cylinder I pulled them and one of mine has had the center electrode "eaten up". It's running smooth, not missing, but I am going to get some motorcraft plat's and put them in today. Thanks chevynOval for bringin that to my attention. Sure enough they are comin apart in my cylinders.

It's a shame I like those plugs. I used them in a caravan and they made a world of differance with mileage and power (cough in a caravan). I would have put them in my escort the first day till I read about that problem. Wonder why that happens and if botch has corrected the issue or at least a responce to the problem from them. Supposedly some of thes plugs are platuim tipped and the escorts reallly llike the one that are all platum not just tipped?

I researched spark plugs quite a bit for my other car and came down to Ac Delco regular old coppers are better. Anything +4 block air/fuel from getting to the spark. Copper conducts better too. I went from bosch +4's to regular delcos and the engine smoothed out.

I have a 1993 Ford Escort LX 4-door Hb 1.9L with 191,000 miles. I recently changed the plugs and wires to Motorcraft Platinums and Duralast wires. The engine really did smooth out and I haven't had any problems. I bought them at AutoZone.

I'm running standard Bosch platinums and won't use anything else. 7k miles on them (new engine), with a 10.25:1 comp ratio. The plugs haven't fallen apart, and I'm pulling about 42mpg on the freeway (5 speed). The Autolite copper ones are good, too. If you need good, cheap plugs, I'd go with those or Motorcraft. BTW, Motorcraft plugs are made by Autolite.
