was driving my 1995 Dodge Stratus & a girl sarted to pull in front of me...so I braked, but not real hard. After releasing the brake the car had jerked and was in a low gear. I turned around and went home...left the car setting about a week and 1 day my fiance went to take the kids to bus stop about 5 minutes away and it was working fine. So I stated driving the car again and it jerked again into low gear after about 15 minutes of driving. After I came out of the store I proceeded to drive again and it was fine again. So I took a backway home to stay off main road doing 35 all the way home and it once again jerked into low gear but then went right back to drive. What can this be?? I checked the fluid when I started the car and at first starting it the fluid was up on the hot mark when the car was actually cold....could it be possible that there is too much tranny fluid in there? There never is a hot smell and the fluid is pink...no discolor too it. I called a tranny place and they told me that the sprag went in it and its common and they wanted $1,200.00 to rebuild :screwy: . Are they right?? Sorry so long but am frustrated :banghead: and don't know what to do! Thank you!

the "sprag" that they are referring to is your parking sprag that locks the transmission when you put it in park. I highly doubt your sprag is the culprit, personally, they're trying to take advantage of you b/c you're a woman. It sounds like your transmission control module is acting screwy. What you could probably do is have it reprogrammed at a Chrysler dealer and go from there.

:) Thank you for your reply! I will call them and get started. Hopefully this will be it! The screen and tranny fluid is getting done tomorrow so I will have that out of the way also!
