Yesterday i got in my s.s DC sport 4-2-1 header. I got the old header
off and the new header on without 2 many complications but the O2
sensor from the stock header just wont come out its rusted in. I called the local advance auto thinking it would be 40-50 buck...148 dollars
So my question is are there cheaper ways to getting a new sensor,
Is there something else i should try 2 get it out or can i even drive without the sensor for a short time...any help would be appreciated.

From my experience finding an o2 sensor for my ex, the big chain stores wanted more for one of the crimp on types than a local place wanted for an oem type one. i paid 90 for mine. You can drive without an o2 sensor, but the hole needs to be plugged, go to a hardware store and find the pipe fitting youd need. You might suffer bad gas milage and engine performace without it.

If you dont konw how old the sensor is, replace it, its not worth the fight, just to have to replace it 2 months from now. (you know what i mean)

if the old o2 sensor still works, its still good.

use a 22mm and squeeze in the biggest breaker bar you can get in there. use some pb blast and muscle.

i think that was the big problem that i didnt have a 22... i may try that
with some lube. If i drive it without the 02 sensor you said i would sacrafice gas milage and power... thats fine because i just need to get
somewhere today but one of my buddys said that it could scramble my ecu... is this true, thanx guys your always alot of help.

it wouldnt hurt to reset your ECU after u get the new one in... but it shouldnt do any permanent damage.

I don't know if the 92-95's went into "limp mode" as honda calls it. But the newer ones do. Basically the ecu knows somethings wrong, so it runs the car with the most failsafe settings. If the 92-95's have it, that might be the only performance difference.

I've just never had much luck with reusing 02 sensors, and some of them can be horrible to get out. I broke the old one off my 94, half of it was stuck in the manifold still, the manifold also had hairline cracks developing, so I took it as a sign that it's time to get a header.

Thanx guys... i got the sensor off, it was a bitch i even had to heat it up some with a blow torch thing... it works fine now... I am very pleased with the torque and hp gains. (now for the hi-flow cat and custom cat-back piping and she'll be done.) :evillol:
