I use enamels on everything now as i have found the finish to be more smooth because it takes longer to dry which allows you more time to paint a bigger area if you have to go over it.

For car bodies: Lacquer
For brush-painting: Enamel
For airbrushing: acrylic

I like dealing with acrylic cause there's more room for error. I absolutly hate laquer and automotive spray cans, airbrushing with acrylic or enamel is way better, preferably acrylic because its easier to clean the airbrush, but enamel is easier to work with cause you can get the right mixtures with thinner, plus its cheaper! I find that with my airbrush, my best results are with the right mixture of enamel, with acylic close behind. With brush painting, always acrylic. I can't stand dealing with thinner more than i need to.
