i have a 93 cavalier that wont stay running. I ran out of gas,when i filled it. It wouldnt start. Later it fired rite up and idled fine. when i go to drive it straight Dies. seems like when i accelerate it cuts off.
fuel pump is fairly new (3 mos) filter is good everything is clean (now)
so i check spark, its interm. & weak changed coils Again idles fine,give it gas Dead. it may try to want to start 1 or 2 timesaftre that. but if i wait hrs it starts all over again . Please help Im stumpped
i did check wires 4 shorts & found the injector elec.plug wires to be showing and poss.touching each other .any poss.damage there?

check your fuel filter/pump. put a pressure gauge on your fuel line & check fuel pressure. it sounds like you sucked up some crud & either plugged up something, or possibly the crud got jammed in the pressure bypass (what regulates pressure by letting excess go back to your fuel tank) so now it can't maintain enough fuel pressure. i'd almost be willing to bet it's got very low fuel pressure.

in agrreance with the above post, but also, if you had weak spark issues, you should replace your spark plugs as they're probably fouled.

thanx guys for your replys. I fixed it. Turns out i was looking in the wrong place, It was the ignition controll mod. under the coils.
