is it just my car or is it the same with the rest of the dpfi's that.... with an intake, the intake doesn't sound as deep, throaty, and mean like it does with mpfi cars. i dunno, it's just that on the si and even the crx hf, the intake sounds so much deeper, meaner, and more noticable than it ever did on my hatchback.

i had to bring back some newbieness

almost double the air is going in to an si than the dpfi, thats a lot more room for sound to come out.

thats why a mpfi swap is a good investmant. im looking for parts now.

i did the dpfi to mpfi and what a feeling and sound, would do again but swaped to the DOHC ZC, and rebuilding another ZC to swap in with better internals for more HP and less oil consumption.

wow i totally disagree!! my dpfi was a million times louder then my mpfi setup. when cruising all u would hear is whistling and air being sucked into the lil dpfi and then i took off the black housing that was on top of the lil carb and it was crazy open carb like a old pickup truck lol lots of air being rushed into a lil hole yeah im a :loser: :)

Double the air eh? Someone needs to stop sniffing the powder at the bottom of the frosted flakes box.

Louder isn't the same as deeper and throatier sounding. The whistling is the sound of air being sucked into a tiny opening - the larger the opening the deeper the sound will be.

the dpfi whistled (sp?...lol)so much...lol if i was cruzing and cracked back on the gass a little it would sound like i just hit a bird...lol
the mpfi (and my vtec) sound 100 times better

It has to do with CFM's. The mpfi has a larger opening for the air to get in. Less constriction = more flow = louder.

The dpfi has two smaller holes = more const. = less flow = quieter
