I just traded off my 96 3.8ltr camaro for a 98 Z28 with the LS1. I have a couple of questions on the 98. There is a button above the stereo that says ASR, anybody know what this is and what it does? Also, this car runs better than I even expected, I am very impressed with the LS1, but it almost feels like it is governed or limited when it's in first??? when it hits second, it takes off like a bat-outta-hell after it quits spinning anyway. it feels like it has more power in second than it does in first?

no not really, it just feels like it is limited by a governer or something. it doesn't feel like it is slipping. judging by the power it has when it hits second, it just feels like it should have more power in first than what it does.

ASR....TCS...same thing. Traction control.
If you spin with that on, you will bog some. It retards the timing so you don't spin anymore.
Turn it off, and you spin through 1st.
Learn to regulate the throttle in 1st. And I would recommend some tires, sounds like you spin too easy.

ah ha, that would explain the slugishness in first! answered both my questions with one answer! thanks a bunch Mr. Luos!

Darn , luos beat me to it! Yep as he said, traction control. Slp (and maybe some others??) make a cheap plug-in that allows the ASR to only turn on AFTER you push the switch.

that's cool about the SLP add-on. it is kinda annoying that is automatically on, instead of having to turn it on.

I don't have the switch on mine so I'm assuming I don't have traction control. Instead I bought an ASR switch and use it as my "Amplifier Switch Relay" hehe (turn my amp on and off) It's cool cuz the wire I'm using as power for the remote turns off with the ignition, I can't drain my battery now :D
