Ok guys, today is the day. Today I will run the GSX for the final time and decide to get it or not. Final price is $7000. I want to run it on full boost or see how the turbo handles everything. I have one small problem, I dont know shit about boost :). The car has a GReddy's eManage E-01 Programmer which is used to tune it. It can control boost. However he said that boost is set at 4-5 psi. I saw the boost controller in the engine bay. Its a Greddy and how do i tune it up for more boost ? Other than that, the car is very nice. It has a nice tint, racing seats, nice cd player, GReddy's eManage E-01 Programmer, new act clucth, 3" exhaust Apex i, Big 16G turbo. A guy is selling his GST for 9000 around the corner. Mine would be 2 grand cheaper and it would be a AWD 16G :) Only thing that scares me is the miles. Car was bought 2 years ago with around 70,000 and used on highway for school. So in 2 years he put around 50,000 on it. the guy seems nice and even told me what had to be changed. New timing belt, oil and a pulley, air filter, spark plugs and the wires. The car hasnt been driven for 2 months since he has been out of state for school. I like the car but 117,000 miles on a boosted engine seem a lot. What is the possibility of the engine blowing up or something happening ? Are the turbo engines reliable ?

possibilty of engine blowing up? 50:50
are turbo engines reliable? fuck no!!! It WILL break, i promiss!. i had to tow my stock GST 3 times in less than a year on a flat bed and it has 70k miles. i've put about 3k into maintence thus far. DSM are NOT reliablie if you want a reliable car, then buy a honda.
as for the boost it should be able to run 15psi no problem. probably could run like 20 or so

If I measure the compression ratio on the engine you think maybe I can get a clear idea of how much more the engine would last until problems start. Or atlest if its in good shape.

you could get an idea of what shape its in, but you wont KNOW whats going to go wrong after that, even if the test is perfect lol
