Hi guys... I'm new to this forum and I'm delighted to be here. My current project is a custom Toyota MR2 based on a Fujimi kit. I'll try to post up some pics when I get started. The project is currently on hold due to loads of uni work :(

Welcome to the board!

Is it the AW11 or the SW20? :D

Hiya Daryl, look forward to seeing more from you.

I have a question, what's the difference between the MR2 and the MRS? (looks at Jay)...

Jay: i'm building the SW20.
Could anyone give me some tips on lowering suspensions?

Well, I've done the Fuijmi SW20, and I thought it was a fun, if simple, kit. I was happy to leave it at the stock height.

Looking at mine, it seems like it'd be tricky to lower it.

The front wheels will work if you just cut the shocks a bit, then bend up the arms to match. Slow and careful heating will help bend the parts, or you can try to cut them at the joints and glue them back into place.

The back wheels are harder. The axle between the wheels can only move up about a mm before it hits the engine parts. Then the gap where the axle meets the transaxle wold become obvious. You could do the same spring cutting trick, but only for a mm or two.

A tip: cut out a bit of scrap plastic or index card and fold it and glue it behind the interior tub so you can't see through from one side intake out the other. :) Another thing Phil (pkw1) pointed out, is that it may beeasier to put in the windows if you cut the front and back ends apart.

Here's a link to some old pics of mine:

I like everything except for the hood wing.

The rest looks great! :)

I'm doing it without the hood wing, which i agree is more than a little odd. I'm scratchbuilding a GT wing for the rear end. Will be painted in TS-8 italian red. Rims will be flat white.

One more thing... how do i get a picture underneath my name?

The same way you get it into your post - using {img} tags {/img}. Daryl, really, it's all in the FAQ.

I see pple molding body kits and stuff for their model cars quite a bit. Has anyone here ever done it? If so, is it easy to do? And what techniques and materials should I use?

Thanx

I'd really like to hear about scratchbuilding bodykits too. This is the first time i'm attempting something like this, and i'd really appreciate pointers.
