:disappoin my wife has an 89 pontiac 6000, with the 2.5 4 cylinder. it has been die hard up until about 2 weeks ago. died completely on her. turned over smooth, no fire. i dug into it, and it was the crankshaft position sensor. replaced, ran good.

Now again, last night, she went to start it up again, NOTHING. im working until sunday so i haven't broke into it again, but if it is indeed the CPS again, is there something else causing it. Only wierd thing i wonder about is that both times when she died, it didnt' really die, it ran, she shut it off, and when she went back to start it, NOTHING.

Can anyone offer some ideas as what would be causing this. the car almost has 196k on it. runs good, i have never had anyproblems in this area since we got it around 130k, what would cause this twice in 2 weeks. the first CPS that i replaced, was cracked by the way. For any mechanics, this model has the sparkpacks, module, and CPS on the backside of the motor in one big bolted together pack, on the firewall side of the block.

Thanks anybody who responds.

check the vehicle wiring harness plug to the CPS, as it may be corroded causing the rapid failure of the new part.
