Look dude you have an 1.9 escort your not gonna be smokin' by a lot of cars, but you can try changing all you fluids, have good tires on her.
You can put a header on. Clean air filter, fuel filter, flush your fuel injectors, might help too. keep your tires inflated to the proper psi which is 32 psi. And turn off your A/C.

for cheep you can remove weight. And the factory intake up to the bax will help. You can go to the scrap yard and find a 5.0 l mustang maf. These will all help but if you want power you have to shell out the green.

A 50 wet shot would do the trick.

Taking out tar sheets will help. Take out all of the interior that you can, including carpet, scrape off all the sheets, then paint a nice colour. Interior pannels just look pritty so you can take them out too. Out with the spair and jack. Just get one of them inflate cans that you hook up to your flat. (They even use them in nascar, it looks like snot stuck to the tires!)

The A/C compressor in your car is a nice paper weight, pick up a belt for a non a/c and fit it then remove the rest of the system. If you can find them fiberglass fenders and hood can save a lot too.

As for the intake your talking about. Weapon R makes one. I have it and it comes with a maf adaptor. Or you can make one on the cheep with some tubing from the auto shop and a K&N filter.
