Allright I wasnt planning on turboing my neon but I just had 2 dropped in my lap.One is out of an 86 Shelby Charger 2.2 and the other is on like a 94 Lebaron 2.2 What I need to know is which if either will work the best on a neon.I have no experience with turbo so I have no real clue which to go with. However I am good at fabrication so chances are if there is a way to make one or the other work then I can handle it.Oh yeah the lebaron is a whole car so I have most all of the really important parts. Thanks for any help you can give.

both turbos should be close to the same. check booth for play in the turbo shaft. make sure the turbos are in good shape, then get to fabricating. if your really good, mount them both (1 at a time of course) and see what you like better

the Lebaron is definitley newer so i would check that turbo first. You also dont have to get one off of that exact car. try to do a little searchin on ebay for that turbo first.

The thing is that they are both new and they are both free. That is the only reason that I am even considering turboing the car.I have a wife kid mortgage and 3 car payments and the army dosent pay alot. The lebaron is a complete car and has all the oil lines and coolant lines. The shelby is just an engine.I did find out that the shelby turbo oil comes from the crank case and the Lebaron has actual oil lines that go to the oil pan.

oil lines shouldnt be too big of a concern, you are probably going to have to fabricate them yourself anyway

Just because you go the turbo free, doesn't mean turbo'ing your neon will be cheap. That just saved you about $150-$200 off a $1000-$1500 project! There are still alot of parts you will need to purchase and fabricate as TEXSRT4 said.

Allright sorry it took so long to reply but I was between Iraq and home so I didnt get alot of a chanc to check posts and stuff.I agree I am only putting a small dent in a large pile of parts that I will need.Like I said I am not all that familiar with turbo setups so any help would be much appreciated ie parts list places I could look to find the parts.I am trying to stay as custom as possible so a Modern Performance kit is out of the question. Thanks for any help in the future.

Well if you don't have any knowledge of turbo's and you are trying to put a kit together yourself, then the first $25 you spend should be on a book called "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. It is a great book and will show and explain the components of a turbo.
As far as a parts list goes, here is a small bit of what you will need:
*RRFPR
*BOV
*Wastegate
*Intercooler (highly suggested)
*Bigger fuel pump (a walboro 255 lph would do)
*24lb injectors or bigger
*a ton of fittings and clamps
*Return Line
*Plumbing for the turbo, some turbos are just oil cooled and some are also water cooled
*your stock ECU will work but you need a Voltage clamp or Missing link to work with it. (or upgrade to an MSD igniton)
The list goes on, but that should get you started. Again, get the book and read and research. That will help you in the end!
