K&N cone lead to MPG increase?

Hey guys. 2 questions, same topic. Does a cone-stil air filter in place of the stock box help much w/ MPG on the 1.9L cars? Honestly I don't expect any real performance gain, just hoping for efficiency.
Ont his same issue though, there are soem sensory attached to teh stock box, I'm guessing maybe an air temp sensor or something? I see the car runs okay w/ this disconnected. How do you deal w/ this sensor if you dump the box for a cone? I figure its there for a reason, I'd hate to shoot myself in teh foot and lose economy b/c of losing teh sensor when my goal is the opposite.

yeah, i gained mpg with a k&n. I stuck my sensor off somewhere when i made my short ram, not i need to put it back inline to get my mpg back.

Just so I'm understanding you right - you first put in a drop-in K7N and DID get a MPG increase, but LOST it when you disconnectedt he sensor for teh short ram? Is that correct?

I also installed a perfomance intake in my 94 Ford Escort 1.9L. The thing is, I have my oxygen temp sensor dangling , no where to put it. I really can't say what the effects( negative/ positive) are. Does anyone have a solution?

What about cutting a hole in the tubing just behind the new cone to put the sensor in?

yeah, do that and silicone it in.
