I have a 1999 Cavalier, the body is in very good condition, interior is in very good condition. Car has 70000 miles. My problem is (I know this might sound strange) that it has a locked motor. Someone has offered to buy the car to fix it and give to his daughter. I dont know how much to tell him. Does anybody know what a fair price would be?

It's worth what someone will pay for it. How badly do you want to get rid of it? In working condition, NADA value is around $3200. You probably wouldn't get a shop to replace an engine with a used for less then 2 grand. If you could get $750 out of it, I'd think you were doing good. If everything else worked great and was in good shape, I probably wouldn't pay more then $500 for it.
I had an 8 year old turbocharged Talon TSi that lost oil pressure, partially seized, ate it's timing belt, and destroyed it's heads and cams (read: needed new engine). I started to part it out before I sent it to a scrap yard and got lucky with someone who wanted to rebuild it and offered me $500. It was $500 more then what I had at the moment and I wanted to get rid of it, so I was more then happy to part with it. It wasn't worth it for me, even with my "free labor", to repair the engine and try to sell it as I'd put more into it then it likely was worth. Plus while I don't have to pay myself, I don't have a lot of "free" time.

Why don't you tell him to make his b/o. Then make your decision.

Maybe 1200-1500 with the locked motor.

I'd say 650 to 800 bucks. I mean, a locked engine. It'll cost the guy alot to get that car running again. He probably wont want to pay too much.
