What is your idle speed? '99-up

The idle on my '01 Rodeo seems a little high and was wondering what everyone elses is. Mine is around 900 out of gear and 850 in gear. My Silverado runs around 500-600. So far I've changed the intake gaskets, cleaned the egr/passage, and throttle plate. These models have the drive by wire system and I believe the idle speed is controlled by the pcm and the throttle position motor. I don't think theres a traditional idle speed motor or valve, is there?

I’m at about 720-750.

There was a recent post (here? Or on the planet or the wire) that the person sprayed out their idle control sensor and it helped to bring the idle down a bit.

Somewhere between 700-800rpm idle speed is pretty normal for the 3.2L Tom01- keep in mind your silverado probably has a V8? A V8 will idle slower, have a lower max rpm, etc. I don't think the throttle by wire equipped 3.2L's (2000+) have an IAC valve. The TBW system actuates the throttle as needed when cold.

that's, of course, after warm up. warming up i'm running about 1000 rpms--it seems (normal?)

I'll try to look for a idle control motor or valve. I've played around with them on other GM vehicles, so I know what to look for. Wondering if a temp sensor is going south, causing the engine to idle high. It seems like I'm always fighting the idle speed when I pull up to a stop-like it doesn't want to stop.

Tom, dont forget there is also an idle-up pressure switch on the power steering pump. Look for the single grey wire on the pump. Disconnect it to see if it idles down. The switch can get stuck. Disconnecting it will have no ill effect. It's not really needed.
