I would go with the WRX or the Mazda 3. Dunno how good the VWs are gonna be and would wait awhile to see if they have any big problems.

I voted for the WRX, but the Mazda3 looks good too.

I voted for the WRX. The Mazda3 Wagon is a cool looking car and is pretty comfortable but they aren't even comparable to the performance of a WRX.

Well it looks like the Mazda 3 and VW TDI is out of the picture. At this point it is between the GLI and WRX and to be honest I think I am going to buy the GLI. The WRX screams fun, but the interior is cheap and the exterior styling is looking dated. The GLI on the other hand is a brand new design and the interior is top grade.

Well, it sounds like you already had your mind made up.

Good luck with your new car.

the Jetta TDI is what I voted for as well. Even though diesel prices are a little bit higher than regular unleaded and it's harder to find a diesel fuel station, your MPG is 60% better than gasoline. Especially is you get a manual transmission, you'll be in great shape to have over 40 mpg. Plus, there's a little known secret out there that you can make diesel out of old cooking grease called, biodiesel. It runs just as clean and efficient as regular diesel but costs much less and you can make it in your own backyard! The Jetta TDI is sounding so much better than the other 3 in my opinion. Plus, maintenance on your diesel is not like the others, all you have to do is change your oil & filter and your air filter. The diesel has no spark plugs, no plug wires, ignition coil or coil packs, parts that go wrong on cars all the time.

Correct.. after researching the subject I found that a TDI would not be for me due to the intake clogging with alot of in town driving.

the top two the wrx and mazda3, i would go with the mazda 3. nice quick small car. the wrx wagon just isnt as stylish as the mazda3 wagon. they r also really fun to drive with great handling and the tiptronic gears are great. the 3 is less expensive and have nicer options than the wrx wagon. the sti tho has some awsome options.

Brand new VW= Great gas mileage, awesome fit and finish, feasible payment plans, lots of options, and also equals ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE RELIABILTY. And for that matter I will not recommend any Vdub (replacement parts are laughably overpriced too).

So that rules out half of your cars. Subaru WRX wagon is a very good car: AWD, Turbocharged, reliable, relatively cheap maintainance, and lots more room than the 4-door Rex. But why does it have to be an '06, all of the Subies have gone down the shitter in the looks department now that they all have the ugly Tribeca front-fascia. I am not a die-hard Subie fan, but I think that any Subaru enthusiants would agree that the front end should be changed. Go with an '03-'05 Rex wagon, imo they are the best looking years. But in the end I would still go with the Mazda 3 wagon. I remember very first seeing it at a 2004 newyears party, and though I was a bit drunk I loved the looks instantly. Also many different powertrain options, interior options, etc. I would personally go for the 2.3 L motor with a 5-speed manual. The 2.3 adds much more pep than the 2.0 (160 to 200 hp) and the 5 spd saves you gas and would be a lot more fun, unless you really want the boring non overdrive auto 4. I really wouldn't call it a wagon, it's more of a 5-door hatch like the Matrix/Vibe GT. But it gets my pick :)
